This is a fantastic experiment. I have used it to reinforce a variety of different topics; monomers, polymers, non-newtonian fluids, properties of plastics.

Two liquids are mixed together and a polymer forms. The polymer behaves like a solid when impacted but a liquid when left alone. Mixing different amounts of monomer gives different properties in the polymer which can be developed into a “How Science Works” practical. It is very similar to the Brainiac walking on custard experiment and can be made to be exactly the same as silly putty!
